Miss New Jersey contestants clean up at Mays Landing car wash

Eleven contestants from this year’s Miss New Jersey competition helped wash cars Sunday afternoon at Canal’s Discount Liquors on the Black Horse Pike.
The event was a fundraiser for the organization’s scholarship fund and was likely the last time the contestants would gather in one place before this year’s June pageant in Ocean City.
Among those stopping by was Albin Borders, father of Cierra Kaler-Jones, a Galloway Township resident and this year’s Miss Cape Shores.
“It’s a wonderful cause,” he said of the education foundation which supplies scholarships to the winners.
Miss Central Coast Melissa Hoffman, Miss Gloucester County Kelcie Klaus, Miss Monmouth County Ellen Chu and Miss Columbus Day Courtney Charatsaris all helped wash his truck, pitching in along with helpers from Canal’s.
Inside the store, other contestants and current Miss New Jersey Lindsey Petrosh took photos with fans and took donations for the foundation.
“One man put in a $100 bill,” said Miss Atlantic County Lindsey Giannini.
The Magaziners own the store and are sponsors of this year’s pageant.
“Why would anybody not help out these ladies,” the owner said as the group gathered for a photo.
